Gemma Thomas - Person Centred counsellor
I’m Gemma and I'm a qualified counsellor with a base in the person-centred approach. I offer a judgement-free therapeutic space where you can explore whatever it is that’s brought you to counselling. I work with integrity, curiosity and kindness as the core tenets of my therapeutic practice. I am an open and inclusive therapist. No matter your gender, orientation, beliefs, race or cultural backgrounds - people of all walks of life are very welcome in my therapy space.
I don't believe that people fall neatly into boxes. Everyone brings with them the whole of their experience and I bring my own life experiences as well. As a result, I have a keen interest in helping people from the LGBTQIA+ community as well as those who have experience working in high pressure roles in corporate environments.
Because life is not predictable you could be seeking counselling for all sorts of reasons. It could be that you feel very low and life feels overwhelming. It can also be that you are exploring the route back to happiness after a period of feeling low or even for exploring the nagging feeling that something doesn't feel quite right, even if you don’t know exactly what that is yet. I also work to support people through a wide range of other issues such as loss and bereavement, depression, anxiety, work related stress and pressure, or illness. I am not offering to fix you or offer you all the answers but I will support you while you find your own way in a genuine, kind, judgement-free environment.
For us to work as well as possible together and for you to feel comfortable enough to share your experiences with me, I offer a call to help establish whether we are a good fit to work together. It will be a free 20 minute phone call or video conversation without any obligation to agree to future sessions.
If you decide to work with me, I offer sessions on a short term or long term basis - whichever best suits your needs, and have some flexibility in the hours I can offer. I offer counselling face to face at Bingley Counselling Centre.
