Kelly Barnsley

About Me:

I am a person-centred trained counsellor and a qualified children’s counsellor working with
children from age 4 years old.
I have worked with young people and adults with mental health for 17 years, my most current role is a children’s counsellor in primary and upper schools.
In addition to working with children in schools, I’ve also had the privilege of supporting adults of all genders through local counselling services and agencies helping clients navigate a wide range of emotional and mental health challenges.
I work from a person-centred approach, meaning I see everyone as the expert in their own life. My role is to offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel accepted and supported, just as you are. I believe that with the right environment, everyone—no matter their age—has the potential to heal, grow, and move forward in their own time.
Working with younger clients requires a gentle, patient, and flexible approach, and I aim to create a safe, trusting space where they feel comfortable to express themselves—whetherthrough words, play, using creative materials or simply being heard without pressure or judgment.
Sessions move at your pace, focusing on the areas you want to explore. While counselling can sometimes be challenging, I’ll be there to support you—or your child—through the difficult moments with care and understanding.
Counselling is a personal journey, and you don’t have to go through it alone. Whether you are reaching out for yourself, your child, or a loved one, I’m here to help.
