Pip Pearson
I am an Independent Psychotherapist with a background in midwifery and over 18 years experience supporting individuals and families. I offer a warm and collaborative, step-by-step approach to supporting you.
There are many mental health and emotional well-being factors that prevent you from living your life in the way you want to. I can offer you support by helping you come to terms with trauma from the past, reducing anxiety and the unhelpful behaviours as a result of anxiety, such as OCD, panic attacks and fear and dread of leaving the house. I can help you lift depression and support you to face new challenges that improve your quality of life.
-
General day-to-day functioning - Stress/Anxiety. Do you feel overwhelmed by daily life, struggling to stop the constant stream of negative thoughts from running through your head, ruining your concentration and preventing you from finding a moment’s peace or from being happy? Are you waking up at night dwelling on bad experiences in the past, feeling guilt, dread, fear, remorse, worry and full of self depreciation? I can help you to manage these challenges and support you with positive changes to your life.
-
Bereavement. Have you experienced bereavement that has left you drowning in the emotions of grief, traumatised by images, feeling guilt, or anger, depressed or suffering extreme loneliness? I can help you to move through your grief and find purpose in your life again, whilst still maintaining a connection with those who have died. I help adults of all ages and cultural backgrounds to cope with their grief. My speciality in bereavement also extends to miscarriage and the death of babies at any stage of pregnancy and the postnatal/neonatal period.
-
Pregnancy/Birth Experiences. Pregnancy, birth and the years following can induce feelings of trauma, depression, and stress for both parents. Sometimes resulting in the fear of ever trying again. Using my midwifery knowledge and psychotherapy experience I can support you to move through this as an individual or couple to help you find peace with your experience and the courage to move forward. I can support a graduated introduction to the hospital so you and your partner feel comfortable and safe if you plan to have another baby. I can assist you with a birth plan either for homebirth or hospital birth. You will be able to regain trust in your body and its ability to give birth and trust in your carers so that you feel more calm, more confident and have a satisfying experience. Everyone is vulnerable to the exhaustion and stress that follows childbirth, some people experience disappointment, regret and isolation. These feelings can lead to depression, which can be hard to acknowledge in the face of judgement and expectations of others. I am here to listen and help you to find a better mental and life balance so you can ride out the exhaustion and find some joy in parenting. I also offer therapy for partners who are often forgotten at this time, but who are also vulnerable to suffering from trauma, depression and guilt..

Teenager/Adult Mental Health. I work with adults and older teenagers (18+). I can help parents of teenages, who are struggling to go to school and are experiencing relationship difficulties. This can be a source of intense stress and angst for both parent and teenager. I work in collaboration with psychotherapist colleagues to help the whole family.
I view mental health through a holistic lens, understanding that healing is deeply influenced by physical health, lifestyle, and the environment. My aim is always to provide a welcoming, safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where clients feel empowered to work through their difficulties and feel supported. I respect the individuality of every person. My style of counselling is adaptive to your personality and problem. I work in collaboration with you to ensure that your needs are met. Where appropriate, I also incorporate guided visualisation and mindfulness to support relaxation and self-awareness.
I am Based at the Bingley Counselling Centre.
