Seba Thomson - Psychodynamic & CBT counsellor specialising with neurodiversity and couples counselling

I have been a qualified counsellor for 10 years, and work with couples and individuals. Clients usually come to see me either pre or post diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and AuADHD. My initial training was Psychodynamic with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy however my approach is now integrative (a mix of modalities, relational, client centred and neurodivergent-affirming).
I have a keen interest in horses and volunteer for the British Horse Society after losing my horse last year. I like to walk (with dogs if I am sitting one), practice yoga, enjoy the arts, music gigs, festivals, comedy, plays, film and art galleries, enjoy a pub quiz and long walks with a dog.

My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, non-judgemental, focused on you understanding yourselves, your nervous system and not ‘fixing’ you; I encourage clients to feel safe, validated, empowered and confident. This can be assisting clients to build sensory profiles and diets, improve executive function and emotional regulation. It might be working towards understanding and self-awareness, developing strategies to enable advocating for self and develop skills to support social interactions, communication and understanding. It can be working through your childhood and/or the impact of various traumas.
Through training and experience I have developed a trauma-informed practice. I support individuals, couples and parents to help Neurodivergent family members. I use the Developmental Model in my couples work with or without a Neurodivergent lens.
In a charity for women, I was a psychotherapist in the Perinatal team (2023 – 2025), I worked with pregnant women and women with babies under 1 year. Supporting clients with birth trauma, baby loss, post-natal depression, anxiety depression and Neurodivergence. Hormonal related Neurodivergence in menopause and PMDD has been an area I have worked on to.
Counsellors and therapists come to me for supervision, to explore and discuss their client work, ethics and support for their development. I attend my own supervision and run peer supervision and reflective practice groups for couples’ counsellors, therapists, ADHD therapists and supervisors.
