Gabrielle Hall  - Relationship Counsellor

I am a relationship counsellor, working with a range of very different people who are experiencing difficulties in a relationship or may be concerned about their lack of a
relationship. The people I work with are not necessarily in a heterosexual or homosexual romantic relationship, though many are; it may be sisters, brothers or
adult children and their parents etc.
Relationships are complex and it is not surprising that most of us experience difficulties along the path. My work is to help you find out what is going wrong, to
hear from you about where you want to get to, clarifying your desired outcome. What does success in that relationship look like? What would be different at the end of the work if it had been useful? The work is about helping you or you and your partner get there.

I also work with adults as a 1-1 counsellor. Supporting common emotionakl and mental health issues such as self-esteem, anxiety and depression.
I began my career as a qualified social worker on an inpatient alcoholic unit. I then took a post as a mental health specialist caseworker, the remit of which was to carry
a small caseload of clients as well as developing services for that client group. I then worked in Child Guidance, predominantly as a systemic family therapist, before
moving to work in the Leeds Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service as a therapist/ manager. After that I pursued a more managerial path in the NHS, sadly
leaving therapy behind for a little while.

On leaving the NHS I trained as a relationship counsellor with an organisation known then as Relate. I worked with Relate Mid-Yorkshire until they went into administration in 2018, before going into private practice.

I would describe my approach as “Integrative” - drawing on ideas from both psychodynamic and systemic schools of thought.
The initial appointment is always an assessment, which gives us all a chance to meet each other and to decide together if we are comfortable and think that working
together will be useful.

I would love to hear from you.
